PROGRAMME > General Information
Invitation
The 15th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering will be held from September 24 to September 28, 2012, in Lisbon, Portugal.
Being an engineering conference, the 15th WCEE provides a unique opportunity to establish synergies between participants from different engineering areas and from such varied fields as earth sciences, economics and social sciences.
The Scientific Committee of the Conference urges all participants to contribute to this global effort of the scientific and technical community towards a safer world in what regards the earthquake risk.
Be part of that effort!

Presentations
In addition to invited presentations from leading researchers and special sessions dedicated to specific issues, the conference technical program will include presentations (oral, poster and e-poster) by all interested participants.
E-Poster
An e-poster is a multi-media approach to presenting scientific research – an digital version of the traditional boards, and is displayed on wide screens in designated areas at the 15WCEE.
The e-poster is basically a "slide" presentation (PowerPoint, OpenOffice presentations or other formats on request) that may include text, figures, images and short video clips.
Maximum of 8 slides per e-poster.
These e-poster presentations can run unattended or, at certain scheduled times, have its authors present.
The screens, when idle, will display a menu of the available e-posters that the delegates can choose.
These digital versions of presentations offer several advantages over their physical counterparts including: multimedia additions to the traditional format, time savings to the presenters, archival research capabilities and conference cost savings for the author.
Timeline
The participants are invited to submit abstracts and, at a later stage, papers to be presented at the conference. Abstracts of papers in the different conference topics are requested to be submitted electronically, in English, through the conference website before October 15, 2011 (extended until 5th November 2011).
Confirmation of acceptance or rejection will be given until January 1, 2012 (new date as from 10th January 2012). Papers must then be submitted until April 15, 2012 (extended until 30 April 2012) and the presenters of accepted papers must register as a participant before July 16, 2012 (extended until 23 July 2012). |
